Results of the 2002-03 Annual Survey of Divisions (ASD)
Divisions of General Practice have been funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing since 1992. They are local organisations that aim to unite GPs and increase their capacity to work cooperatively with other health providers. One of the key challenges that face Divisions is balancing local and national priorities. Locally, they must meet the expressed needs of their members and communities while nationally, it is necessary for Divisions to meet the requirements of their funding agreements with the Australian Government and an increasing number of other funding bodies.

Individual feedback of results of the ASD 2002-03
Since 2001, PHC RIS has prepared a report for each Division providing feedback on their responses to selected items of the ASD. These reports were initiated in response to Divisions' request for further analysis of ASD data with the aim of increasing the survey's utility. In July 2004, PHC RIS conducted a project to investigate how useful and relevant Divisions found this feedback. While most Divisions considered the feedback useful and wished it to continue in the future, there were some constructive suggestions for ways in which it could be improved. In response to these suggestions, the format and content of individual feedback changed in 2003-04. Data is presented according to the priority areas defined by the Federal Government in their response to the Divisions' review. We have also incorporated two new categories which we hope reflect local Division characteristics more comprehensively.
